The Konso tribe (or Xonsita) are a Cushitic-speaking ethnic group of approximately 350,000 people living in the arid highlands of south-western Ethiopia. Known for their remarkable engineering and agricultural skills, they reside in fortified, hilltop villages. Their landscape, which includes intricate dry stone terraces and walled towns, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010 (Learn More)
